Capacity Building for Community Action Councils (CACs)
Shelter Management Training – ODPM
During the month of August 2009 members of the Enterprise CAC along with other members of the community were trained to be Shelter Managers by the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management of the Ministry of National Security. Training occurred on August 9th, 16th and 23rd, 2009. To effectively implement this training programme the CSP partnered with the Local Disaster Management Office within the Chaguanas Borough Corporation.
Twenty (20) community residents were trained over three weekends at the Chaguanas Borough Corporation. Two training sessions were conducted in a classroom setting where trainees were taught the principles of Disaster Management and how to be effective Shelter Managers. The third session was a practical exercise at a certified shelter in the area of Enterprise – the Enterprise Seventh-Day-Adventist Church. Participants showed their interest in becoming Shelter managers for their community and participating in any follow up training programmes being offered to learn more about assisting their community in time of need.

Introduction to Counseling Training,UWI
On Sunday 24th October, 2010 at 6:00 pm, the Citizen Security Programme (CSP) in collaboration with the University of the West Indies hosted a Graduation Ceremony for the Introduction to Counselling Course. The graduation took place at the University of the West Indies Open Campus, Gordon Street, St. Augustine.
This project provided sixty-one (61) Community Action Council (CAC) members from all 19 communities in Trinidad with a scholarship in Introduction to Counselling for one semester from January – August 2010 at various training centers throughout the country.
The course was necessary because the CAC plays a critical role in the transmission of the values and norms associated with peaceful coexistence in CSP's 22 communities. This scholarship was therefore offered as a tool to equip members with the necessary knowledge and skills needed to function effectively as they provide service to the individuals and families within their community.
As a follow up to this programmes, students who have excelled in the introductory programme are being offered scholarships to pursue Advanced Level training in 2011.
