CIVIL SOCIETY WORKING GROUP

 CSP has engaged NGOs as local partners to execute many of its programmes across the thematic areas of youth violence, domestic violence and child maltreatment. This is based on the understanding that NGOs in Trinidad and Tobago are well positioned, and therefore the most appropriate technical experts to recommend and design appropriate community level interventions.

To this end, CSP has facilitated the establishment of a Civil Society Working Group (CSWG), to oversee the implementation of the “Institutional Strengthening of NGOs” initiative. In this regard, the CSWG:

  1. Promotes a coherent, comprehensive, coordinated approach to violence prevention within CSP’s partner communities;
  2. Provides a forum and structure for the representation of matters of common interest between the CSP and NGOs.

The CSWG is comprised of twenty-eight (28) Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) pre-qualified with the approval of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to deliver violence prevention services in CSP’s partner communities. CSP has committed as part of our partnership with these NGOs to increase their capacity in four specific areas: sustainable funding; research, monitoring and evaluation, strategic planning and NGO cooperation. The overall goal is to enhance the service delivery capacity and sustainability of these partners.
